先分清套盆還是換盆
套盆要量現有內盆，確認內部開口、深度及底部空間，並留位方便取出。換盆則按根團選下一個合適尺寸，避免一次加大太多。商品標示尺寸不能直接當作可用內徑。

室內先安排接水
一般套盆可保留有排水孔的內盆，小盆栽取出澆水、瀝乾後放回，並倒走外盆積水。直接種植前先確認排水孔，再配合防滲水底碟，保護地板。

露天確保雨水有出口
確認排水孔、盆底空間及地面去水路徑暢通；底碟不要長期積水。盆底放石頭不能代替排水孔。

先量通道，核對承托
量度門口、搬運通道及擺放位置，並連同植物和濕土核對總重量與承托。當風位置還要考慮盆形穩定性；重盆不等於防風。
