Frequently asked questions
Coleus (Solenostemon scutellarioides)
Should I keep the flower spikes?
If the aim is a leafy, branching display, pinch out developing flower spikes and keep healthy foliage.
Why does the new leaf colour differ from the photo?
Cultivar, leaf age and light all affect colour. Adjust exposure gradually rather than moving directly into harsh sun.
Do patterned leaves need stronger midday sun?
Not necessarily. Sudden harsh light can damage foliage; follow the species-specific light guidance.
Can I trim a damaged leaf tip only?
Small dry edges can be tidied carefully; keep sound leaf tissue and investigate repeated damage.
