Planting & styling guide
How do I settle a compact fig into a reading corner?
Check the position at leaf height
- Check daylight beside the chair at the actual canopy height.
- Keep leaves clear of the chair arms and moving curtains.
- Keep the nursery pot initially and learn how this root ball dries.
- Choose any cover pot by internal fit and drainage access.
- When roots need more room, move up gradually in pot size.
Keep the natural form
Keep healthy leaves and prune damaged growth selectively. Use clean tools and gloves when cutting stems to avoid contact with the milky sap.
How do I care for it as it grows beyond this size?
- SunlightLow furniture can shade a short plant even beside a bright window. Check the light on its leaves before changing watering or feeding.
- WateringJudge this pot on its own. It need not dry at the same rate as the 130–150 cm bush, even when both stand in one room.
- Leaf care & feedingSupport each leaf when wiping. Leave healthy new growth room to develop instead of trimming simply to keep the original sale height.
- As the canopy growsRecheck clearance from the chair and curtains. Shift the display when needed while keeping similar bright, filtered light.
How do I group plants without overwhelming a small fig?
Keep the compact fig visible at the front of the grouping. Use separate pots and choose companion sizes that do not shade it.

Frequently asked questions
Fiddle-Leaf Fig · Ficus lyrata
Can I put this size on a side table?
Check the full plant-and-pot height, table width, load capacity and stability first. At the listed 80–100 cm size, floor placement may leave more room beside a chair.
Read moreIs the small fig easier in low light than the large one?
No. Both are Ficus lyrata and need suitable bright, filtered daylight. A smaller price or size does not make a dark corner suitable.
Read moreWill it stay at 80–100 cm?
That is the supplied size, not a mature-height limit. Allow for new leaves and growth, and reassess the pot and position as the plant develops.
Read moreShould I repot it into a much larger pot immediately?
Not just to make it grow faster. First assess root crowding and drainage. When repotting is needed, choose a modest increase rather than a large volume of unused wet mix.
