Planting & styling guide

How do I place and repot a broad fiddle-leaf fig bush?

Plan for the whole bush

  1. Measure clearance around the lower foliage, doors and furniture.
  2. Keep the current pot while the plant settles; inspect the deep root zone.
  3. Repot only when root space or drainage calls for it.
  4. Use a slightly larger draining pot without burying stem bases.
  5. Support the pot during moving; do not carry it by leafy branches.

Preserve the bush shape

Inspect branching before cutting. Retain healthy lower leaves that form the canopy; wear gloves when handling cut stems because the sap can irritate skin.

How do I preserve the full bush shape?

  • SunlightCheck light at lower-leaf level as well as the top. A sofa arm or tall neighbouring plant can shade one side of the bush.
  • WateringA large root ball can stay wet below a dry surface. Check within the mix and the cover pot before deciding to water again.
  • Leaf care & feedingClean leaves one at a time while supporting them. Remove damaged growth selectively; healthy lower leaves create this product’s bush outline.
  • Room layoutKeep broad leaves out of a frequently used doorway. Move the pot to create clearance rather than repeatedly bending the branches.

Frequently asked questions

Fiddle-Leaf Fig Bush (130–150 cm) · Ficus lyrata

How is this bush different from the 80–100 cm fig?

Both are Ficus lyrata with the same basic care needs. This product is taller and has a fuller bush outline; compare actual leaf spread as well as listed height.

Should I remove lower leaves to show a bare trunk?

Healthy lower leaves are part of this bush form. Stripping them changes its appearance and cannot guarantee an attractive single-trunk tree.

Can it fit tightly behind a sofa?

Only if its leaves have space and usable daylight. Check lower foliage clearance and access to the pot; a narrow gap may suit a slimmer plant better.

Why are leaves on one side declining?

Compare light, contact with furniture and air outlets on that side, then check moisture and pests. The pattern helps investigation but does not establish a diagnosis.
