Frequently asked questions
Pitcher Plant
Should I fill the pitchers with kitchen scraps?
No. Do not add meat, fertiliser or scraps; this can damage the pitchers. Give the plant suitable light, water and humidity.
Will it reliably remove all mosquitoes at home?
No. Pitchers are a botanical feature, not a substitute for mosquito control. Pitcher production also varies with species and conditions.
Is a pitcher a flower?
No. It develops from a leaf tendril and functions as an insect trap; flowers are separate structures.
Why are new leaves not making pitchers?
Light, humidity and acclimatisation affect pitcher development; requirements also differ between Nepenthes groups. Confirm the supplied type and stabilise conditions.
