Frequently asked questions
Duranta repens L.
Is Duranta repens the same as Duranta erecta?

Is it safe for cats and dogs?
No. NC State and NParks both report toxic fruit that can endanger children and pets; keep it out of reach and clear fallen berries.
Can I clip it as a hedge?
Yes, but flowers form at the tips of new growth, so frequent clipping reduces flowering; prune after a flush of flowers.
Will it arrive with flowers or berries?
Flowers and berries depend on the batch and season; neither is guaranteed on arrival.
