Frequently asked questions
Chinese Hibiscus
Why did one flower last only a short time?
Individual hibiscus flowers are often short-lived. A healthy plant can produce successive buds in suitable conditions.
Can I prune during a full bud display?
Heavy pruning removes buds and new flowering growth. Shape selectively when you can accept a pause in flowers.
Will it flower throughout the year?
Flowering varies with season, plant maturity and light; an evergreen habit does not mean continuous flowers.
Can I keep the crown tightly clipped?
Repeated clipping may remove flowering wood. Plan the shape and time pruning around the plant’s flowering habit.
