A little green.
A welcoming space.
A braided trunk keeps the silhouette light, while the leafy crown softens a simple living room or office. The square cement planter adds a clean, grounded outline.
Place near a bright window with filtered daylight, clear of walkways and air-conditioning outlets. Leave space around the crown and access for watering.
Planting & styling guide
How do I place and repot a braided money tree?
Protect the trunk base
- Measure the crown and pot against the doorway and final position.
- Lift by supporting the pot, not by pulling the braided stems.
- Check drainage and root crowding before deciding to repot.
- Keep the trunk base at the same depth in an airy potting mix.
- After watering, check that the outer planter has not trapped water.
Care for the braided trunk
Check any ties as the stems thicken. They should not cut into the bark; do not force woody stems into a tighter braid.
What should I check around the braid and crown?
- SunlightA reception counter can look bright under spotlights yet lack useful daylight. Assess the crown’s position relative to the window.
- WateringIn tall planters, check the original root ball rather than only the decorative top layer. Avoid pouring water repeatedly around the trunk base.
- Braid and tiesLook for tight ties or rubbing bark as stems grow. Do not twist hardened trunks into a new braid; seek advice if one stem softens or declines.
- Office placementKeep the canopy clear of doors and air outlets. Choose a stable position where cleaning staff can reach the pot without dragging the stems.
How do I frame the braided trunk in an office?
Keep the trunk visible above lower companion pots. Leave room to inspect the base rather than packing plants tightly around it.

Peperomia Obtusifolia(Baby Rubber Plant)
A low rounded-leaf pot softens the base while leaving the braid visible.

Frequently asked questions
Twisted-Stem Money Tree · Pachira aquatica
Can it live in an office without windows?
Bright, indirect daylight is preferable. Ordinary office lighting alone may be insufficient; use a brighter position or suitable grow lighting if daylight is absent.
Read moreWhat if one stem in the braid starts declining?
Check that stem separately for soft tissue, damaged bark or a tight tie, then review root-zone moisture. Photograph the base and affected stem before seeking advice; do not tighten the braid or add fertiliser as a remedy.
Read moreDoes the braided trunk need more braiding?
No regular re-braiding is needed. Leave established woody stems in place and check that ties do not become tight as the plant grows.
Read moreCan a tall decorative planter hide a smaller nursery pot?
Only if the nursery pot fits securely and can drain. Check internal width, usable depth and stability; leave access to remove trapped water rather than filling the space blindly.
