Frequently asked questions
Sago Palm
Can I shorten it by cutting off the top?
No. Do not cut through the growing crown; remove only dead fronds when needed.
Is it a palm?
It is a cycad, not a true palm. New fronds can appear in flushes separated by long quiet periods.
Will the supplied height stay fixed?
No. Woody plants continue growing; plan root and crown space rather than treating the selected height as a mature limit.
Can it be kept indoors without direct daylight?
It still needs a suitable bright growing position. Do not treat an ornamental tree as a low-light decoration.
